Objective

AusIndustry is the Australian Government’s principal business program delivery division in the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research.

AusIndustry delivers a range of more than 30 business programs - including innovation grants, tax and duty concessions, small business development, industry support and venture capital - worth about $2 billion to more than 10,000 businesses and about 100,000 individuals every year.

Significance for Australia

It is internationally recognised by the OECD that countries that invest in research and development are more likely to secure a strong economic future. That is why the Australian Government is committed to supporting the innovations of Australian businesses to encourage more business investment and improve international competitiveness.

Departmental role and current achievements

AusIndustry, the Department’s program delivery division, provides a national customer delivery framework designed to improve business access to Government programs. AusIndustry has a strong customer focus, and seeks to simplify and reduce the costs of business interactions with the Australian Government.

To help customers obtain product and eligibility information, AusIndustry has customer service managers located in more than 25 offices across Australia, plus a national hotline and web site.

Targets for 2009-10

Deliver all programs on time, on budget with maximum customer satisfaction and policy impact flowing from the 2009-10 Budget.
