Objective
To help businesses find, manage and complete government forms online without having to understand the structure of government or individual agencies.
Significance for Australian Business
Businesses regularly deal with government; whether they are registering for an Australian Business Number, applying for permits or licences, or paying their rates. Although many government forms are available online, they can often be difficult to find. GovForms, an online service of business.gov.au, offers businesses a fast and convenient way to find forms and deal with government. Using GovForms allows businesses to spend more time doing business and less time dealing with government.
Departmental role and current achievements
Businesses can access GovForms on the business.gov.au website. The system is continuously being refined and is progressively offering more links to online government forms. Currently users can search for and access more than 7,500 forms and transactions from agencies across all levels of government.
Along with the capacity to search for and complete forms using GovForms, businesses can also create individual accounts, allowing them to store and manage frequently used forms.
SmartForms are a new technology available through GovForms. They enable government agencies to replace static forms with a streamlined, automated process that offers significant benefits to business users.
The GovForms website had over 178,800 visits in 2007. Currently the GovForms website has had 55,681 visits for 2008.
