The Tourism Action Agenda was announced as part of 1997 'Investing for Growth' statement and the implementation of the National Action Plan for Tourism began in June 1998. The Plan was the culmination of extensive consultations with all stakeholders, including relevant Australian Government agencies, the States and Territories and the tourism industry.
