Melbourne Trams and Trains is one of nine Supplier Access to Major Projects (SAMP) Case Studies. As part of Melbourne's trams and trains upgrade, international tram and train manufacturers placed more than $550 million in orders with Australian companies, despite initially intending to fully import rolling stock. Australian made components include air-conditioning units, closed circuit security TV, and brake and compressor systems. Australian companies have gone on to win export contracts in the global market.
