The Extending Aircraft Life (EAL) program is a joint Australian Government and industry activity to promote Australian capabilities for aircraft life extension and advanced maintenance to both national and overseas military and civilian markets.
Objectives
The primary objective of the EAL program is to integrate the Australian aerospace industry into the relevant global supply chains. The program is expected to capture all the relevant national and global supply chain opportunities suited to the capabilities of the program participants. The program is not restricted by opportunity level or nature, such as aircraft functionality or material preservation and is not limited by customer activities or programs.
Primary areas of interest are opportunities that involve:
-
aircraft maintenance;
-
repair and overhaul (military aircraft);
-
advanced maintenance and upgrades; and
-
condition and health monitoring that can be scheduled or unscheduled and further described as breakdown, preventative, predictive or proactive activities.
Industry Capability Team (ICT)
An Industry Capability Team (ICT) has been established, known as the Extending Aircraft Life – Industry Capability Team (EAL-ICT). The structure of the EAL-ICT is "market opportunity based" and may include special interest groups depending on the opportunities identified.
To date some 40 Australian firms and research agencies have registered their interest in participating in the Extending Aircraft Life program.
