Steel is a component in most goods we use or is essential in the tooling or machinery that manufactures them. Australia has one of the most dynamic and innovative steel industries in the world and as a result is a keystone in supporting our infrastructure, energy, transport, automotive, shipping, communications, construction and consumer good industries.

The Australian Government recognises that the viability of the steel industry chain is vital to our economic prosperity. To support the industry the government has established various initiatives, provides various forms of assistance and has identified a number of resources relevant to the Australian steel industry.
