About the Buy Australian at Home and Abroad initiative 

The Australian Government is providing $58.4 million to the Buy Australian at Home and Abroad initiative (Buy Australian). Buy Australian will ensure better program integration across a range of related activities. It will assist Australian firms enhance their competitiveness and link with new business opportunities, particularly on major projects both in the public and private sector.

What it includes

Included under the Buy Australian at Home and Abroad initiative are the following activities:

• Australian Industry Participation
• Supplier Advocates
• Resources Sector Supplier Envoy
• Resources Sector Supplier Advisory Forum  
• Supplier Access to Major Projects (SAMP)
• Industry Capability Network (ICN) 
• Clean Technology Focus for Industry Supply Chains.

Buy Australian includes $19.1 million already invested through the 2009 Procurement Statement; it also includes $34.4 million to support activities in the resources sector and $5 million for the Clean Technology Focus for Supply Chains program. 

Associated delivery agencies

The Buy Australian initiative is complemented by the work of Enterprise Connect, AusIndustry and the National Innovation System. The work of Austrade also plays a key role in assisting Australian firms access opportunities overseas.
