This high-level group of key manufacturing industry stakeholders was a recommendation of the non-Government members of the Prime Minister’s Taskforce on Manufacturing report Smarter Manufacturing for a Smarter Australia. The Government established the Group to provide strategic advice on manufacturing to the Government, and to assist in implementing the Government’s response to the Taskforce’s recommendations. The recommendations are designed to strengthen local firms as they adapt to global changes in our economy, including the rise of Asia.
