An Expert Forum of 8 to 10 people will be established in 2010 to guide the Strategy’s technology foresighting activities. The Forum will ensure that policy makers and regulators are prepared for future developments relating to enabling technologies.

The Forum will identify challenges arising in the next 5 to 10 years from the new enabling technologies, through consideration of what problems will need to be solved, as well as what research is currently being conducted. Communication of the findings of this Forum through my department to other relevant sections of our Government, and to stakeholders through the Advisory Council, will be essential in realising the benefits of this work.

The Forum’s activities will compliment other foresighting activities currently being undertaken in Australia by the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council (PMSEIC), the Future Manufacturing Industry Innovation Council and the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).
