- The purpose of the Chair in Child Protection funding is support the operation of an Australian Centre for Child Protection to work collaboratively across disciplinary and organisational boundaries to undertake research and facilitate its translation into policy, program development, professional education and service delivery in order to enhance the life opportunities of children at risk of abuse or neglect in Australia.
- Professor Dorothy Scott has held the position of Chair since 15 September 2004 at the University of South Australia.
- The funding is provided to the University of South Australia. The Chair will lead and promote research into child protection and assist researchers working to combat child abuse across the disciplines of early childhood and family studies, psychology, education and literacy, conflict management, Indigenous communities and cultures, service delivery and social policy.
