The automotive industry makes a vital contribution to Australia's economy, particularly in relation to employment, exports and innovation. The Australian Government has announced a review of the industry to assess challenges, overcome barriers to success and to identify and maximise new opportunities.

SUBMISSIONS
The Hon Steve Bracks is canvassing a wide range of the industry's stakeholders and has called for public submissions by 14 May 2008.
To coincide with the calling of public submissions, the automotive review panel released a discussion paper and background paper on the automotive industry. These papers provide background information and identify issues for public consideration and debate.
