The Australian Parliament has passed the Corporations Amendment (Crowd-sourced Funding) Bill 2016, paving the way for eligible Australian businesses and start-ups to access crowd-sourced equity investment.

A part of the National Science and Innovation Agenda, once legislative changes come into effect, businesses will be able to raise crowd-sourced equity funds through a licensed online portal, while ensuring adequate investor protection.
