Developing better medicines, medical devices and therapies for the benefit of Australians
The Government has partnered with the private sector to both support biomedical innovation and improve health outcomes for Australians.
The commercialisation process for medical research and innovation is lengthy and requires significant funding. Early stage innovative biomedical businesses have faced declining venture capital equity investment over the past three years. By attracting greater private investment and bringing in the expertise of three venture capital fund managers, the Biomedical Translation Fund will stimulate Australia’s biomedical research sector.
The BTF will assist Australian companies in overcoming the challenges faced in commercialising their ideas—helping to bring the next great Australian biomedical discoveries, like the Gardasil cancer vaccine or cochlear medical device, for the health and economic wellbeing of Australians.
