Biomedical Translation Fund now open to investors

Thursday, August 4, 2016

A new $500 million fund to accelerate the development and commercialisation of Australian biomedical discoveries is now open to applications from private sector fund managers.

The Biomedical Translation Fund (BTF) is designed to ensure that the most promising Australian research discoveries have access to institutional growth capital needed for them to be turned into better medical products and services for Australians.

A $250 million investment in the fund from the Government will be dollar-matched by private sector co-investment.

Innovation Australia will administer the BTF and a new BTF Committee with experience in health and medical research and venture capital, chaired by Mr Peter Wills AC, has been established to oversee the fund.

Applications for the BTF close on the 14 September 2016.
