Ownership of the Australian Synchrotron transferred to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation

Wednesday, August 10, 2016

The Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, the Hon. Greg Hunt, announced today that ownership of the Australian Synchrotron has been transferred to the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO).

This follows the $520 million 10-year operational funding package announced late last year under the National Innovation and Science Agenda.

The Synchrotron is a key piece of Australian research infrastructure that uses light to help advance research and development in fields such as bioscience, medical research, and minerals exploration.
