Australia's textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) industry has faced increasing competitive pressures over the last decade. The Government is aware of these issues and determined to work with the sector to develop viable strategies for its long-term future.

The Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr has announced a comprehensive review of the TCF Industry to be conducted by Professor Roy Green supported by an expert reference group.

The review's task will be to develop practical and effective strategies to ensure Australia's TCF industry enjoys a vibrant, innovative and competitive future. A report will be provided back to the Australian Government on its outcomes, including recommendations by 31 August 2008.
