On 8 March 2008 the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Senator Kim Carr, announced a wide-ranging review of Australia's textile, clothing and footwear industries to be conducted by Professor Roy Green, Dean of Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
The establishment of the Review recognises the importance to the Australian economy of the TCF industries and signifies the Government's commitment to further developing and maintaining the capacity for innovation, productivity and international competitiveness in these industries.
As part of the Review, Professor Green is undertaking open stakeholder consultations in several capital cities in May 2008. The public consultations provide an opportunity to engage with the Reviewer and provide views on the future of the TCF industries in Australia. The consultations will take place as follows:
