CSIRO Innovation Fund launched to supercharge Australian innovation

Sunday, December 4, 2016

The $200 million CSIRO Innovation Fund will commercialise early stage innovations from CSIRO, universities and other publicly-funded research bodies.

Boosting commercialisation of Australia’s research outcomes will increase productivity and exports and generate jobs, particularly in priority sectors of the Australian economy.

The Fund will be led by world-class innovation and venture-capital expert Mr Bill Bartee, who has an impressive track record in the venture capital industry, assisting new, innovative companies to grow.

The fund, established as part of the National Innovation and Science Agenda, will comprise a government investment of $70 million over 10 years, $30 million revenue from CSIRO’s WLAN program, and the remaining $100 million sourced from wholesale private sector investment.
